Segamat, My Hometown.

Segamat. You may have never heard of this town before ever in your life. So, I'm here to explain.

Segamat is a little town that is situated in Johor, and I spent my whole childhood here for 13 years before moving to KL. Throughout my life, I have seen Segamat transform, in so many different ways.

The story behind the name of this town goes way back to 1511, when a Bendahara of Malacca and his troops were travelling to Johor due to Malacca being invaded by the Portuguese. They stopped by a river to take a brake when the Bendahara drank some water from the river. After he drank it, he immediately exclaimed: "Segar Amat!", which translate to "very refreshing". Hence the name of the river 'Segar Amat', which in time evolved into Segamat, which is the name of the town.

It may be just a small town, but it has its own charms.
